Regarding Silent Running Audio - VR Isolation Platform

I recently took delivery of the isolation platform, especially made for my Bluenote Stibbert Mk2 Improved CD player.

I am pleased to report quite remarkable sonic improvements that it has brought in my high resolution stereo system.

The Bluenote Stibbert is widely acclaimed as one of the finest CD players regardless of cost. With it's turntable like suspension and valve output stage it allows"red book CD" to enter the territory of the finest vinyl playback systems. I was surprised therefore to hear such wide-ranging improvements when sited under this CD player, bringing a new level of performance to CD playback.

The manufacturers state that it takes 2 days to settle in after transit and I can confirm this. It was enlightening to hear the sound quality change, especially over the first few hours.

In simple terms, the sound becomes significantly more natural, coherent and seamless across the frequency band; removing any residual hardness, electronic glaze or other artefacts from the sound. The soundstage improves, especially in focus, dimensionality and dynamics. Low level detail becomes more apparent, allowing much more of the natural timber and microdynamics of both instruments and voices to be heard.

Most importantly, it makes music sound more "alive" and "immediate"; enhancing the sense of listening to a "real performance in an acoustic space", rather than just a "hifi spectacular". It does this to a degree, even with poorly recorded material, making one listen to the music and performance rather than to the limitations of the actual sound.

Does having a platform made especially for a certain piece of equipment have drawbacks? Surprisingly, I have tried this custom platform under a whole range of equipment and in other much low cost systems I own. As long as the equipment fits on, the improvements can be heard but to a lesser degree.

Over the years I have owned and auditioned a whole range of devices of widely different design and of materials used, all suggesting solutions and massive improvements. The market is full of such companies, who claim "years of research and development" and often charging grossly excessive prices. Many do not seem to have any real understanding of the basic laws of physics concerning the transmission and grounding of vibrational energy. The reality is that they do not solve the problems, they just push them in another direction (they make the sound different but not better. A few systems that do offer genuine improvements at similar cost to the SRA platform - such as the "rollerblock" designs, I have found precarious to use and are not universal in application.

These SRA platforms are beautifully built, look terrific under the equipment and are not precarious to use. Although not cheap, these platforms represent astonishing performance improvements for the price. I would go as far to say that one should not make any sonic judgements on equipment, before adding a SRA platform. Frankly, you could easily lay the blame for sound quality problems on the wrong components.

Personally, I would vote this platform as my "Accessory Component of the Year." It is simply that good.

I just wanted to thank you again for the many helpful bits you gave me on tuning my system for little monies and the careful and professional time you spent going over options and finding the right amp and preamp that is just magical with my Zu Druids. And the suggestion of the subwoofer. At first I thought you were just trying to sell me something I may not need. After you assuring me of this I can tell you point blank it was a great move, the Zu subwoofer even made my brothers Rel sub seem slow. We have not been in touch for sometime since you helped me build my last current system, and now with the addition of the excellent Aesthetix preamplifier and the Zu audio cables, it's like I bought another system all over again. I am gobsmacked with the excellent detail and involvement, and the cables didn't break the bank like with some of the inflated brands out there. This preamp brings the performers into the room with you. I have had many 4k preamps, and this is such a find, your experience working abroad and knowing the vast range of products literally saved me thousands. I am no longer looking for musicality, I have found it.

To all at Hifidelity Audio and especially Paul, you have given me back the enthusiasm for hifi again.

When we first spoke I thought you just liked to talk to sell but the more we talked about my requirements the more I knew you knew what the heck was going on. That is more than I can say for most guys at hifi shops; they are either just trying to sell what is the biggest profit margin or tell you what you should be listening for, which is bullocks. You allowed me to state what I was looking for and build an exacting system on that premise.

Within my budget I was very surprised I was able to even get that much musicality out of my available funds. I am working to buy the Druids but for the time being, the little Zu Tone stand mount speakers are brilliant. I look to revamp most of my system before year's end. You can bet your pence that I will be back, and with all the possibilities and your matching skills.
